R. Douglas Weimer is a lifelong resident of Hempfield Township, Westmoreland County. He attended Hempfield Area School District and is a graduate of the class of 1988. Doug attended Seton Hill College, receiving a BA degree in Art Education in 1992 and pursued graduate studies at California University of Pennsylvania. In 2008 Doug worked for the PA Senate Republican Caucus in the 39th Senate District office. Currently, Doug is employed as an educator with the Norwin School District.
Doug was first elected to the Hempfield Township Board of Supervisors in 2001 and was re-elected to his fourth consecutive term in 2019. As a Township Supervisor, Doug has served the Board as Secretary, Treasurer, Vice-Chairman and as Chairman. Doug Weimer has also served on the Hempfield Township Multi-Municipal Planning Committee, Westmoreland Council of Governments, Westmoreland County Association of Township Supervisors Committees, Hempfield Public Safety Task Force, the Hempfield Municipal Comprehensive Plan Review Committees, HT 30 Corridor Committee, and the HT 250th Anniversary Committee.
Doug is an active member of Otterbein United Methodist Church in Greensburg where he serves as a Church Trustee. He is also a member of the Westmoreland County Community College Board of Trustee's, Masonic Lodge 518 F. & A.M., Lincoln Heights Community Center, Five Star Trail Board, Westmoreland Rotary International, and a Life Member of the National Rifle Association. Doug has also dedicated many years to the Boy Scouts of America where he attained the rank of Eagle in 1985, served as Assistant Scoutmaster and as a Merit Badge Counselor. He was also first elected as a member of the Republican State Committee in 2006, Westmoreland County Republican Committee in 2005 and serves on the WCRC Executive Board.
Doug is married to his wife, Karen Weimer, and they reside with their daughters Alicia, Cate, and Sofia in the Mt. Vernon Plan.
